Of Monsters and MenMaybe I’m a crook for stealing your heart away
And maybe I’m a crook for not caring for it
And maybe I’m a bad, bad, bad, bad person
Well baby, I know
So I think it’s best we both forget before we dwell on it
The way you held me so tight all through the night
Till it was near morning
Because you love, love, love when you know I can’t love
You love, love, love when you know I can’t love
You love, love, love when you know I can’t love, you…
And these fingertips, they’ll never run through your skin
Those bright blue eyes can only meet mine across a room
Filled with people that are less important than you
Now that you're all caught up on Elementary: what are you thoughts in general (plotlines, episodes, characters, etc) about it so far? I would love to hear them! :)
oh wow it’s past 3am and my brain’s really not what you’d call functioning atm but yeah sure i can try to whip up an answer but if i fail let me just go on record and say overall i absolutely LOVE the show ok cool
when i decided to catch up on it i had seen the first 8 (i think?) episodes months before and was pretty sure i wouldn’t really care about the cases but i knew i’d already loved sherlock and joan (and the rest of the team) and that was enough for me to continue watching. but as it turned out, i actually ended up enjoying some cases - and increasingly so; i believe the first few weren’t as intriguing as the later ones though cases in general are not what’s pivotal to my staying/leaving - i watched/still watch a lot of shows that deal with monsters/freaks/crimes of the week (fringe, supernatural, the x-files, castle, etc.) and if i’m invested in the characters and relationships i couldn’t care less whether or not each case is ~mindblowing~
but the good thing is i love both joan and sherlock A WHOLE LOT; i don’t think i’ve ever liked an incarnation of sherlock as much as i do this one. not sure how to put it, but i really feel like he’s human and real and i love all his quirks and downright sherlockian traits but also all the other aspects to his personality that actually make him even more likable and lovable. especially in his conduct regarding joan. AND THE WAY HE CHALLENGES HER AND SUPPORTS HER AND CARES ABOUT HER IMPROVING HER DEDUCTION SKILLS AND THEIR DOMESTICITY AND COMPANIONSHIP AND HE FUCKING CHOOSES HER DAILY OUTFITS AND SHE THEN WEARS THEM yeah basically there isn’t a single thing i don’t enjoy about their relationship and it’s enough to make me never wanna abandon this show again
AND JOAN. oh MAN J O A N W A T S O N she is beyond amazing and so smart and helpful and i love it that she can be both tolerant of sherlock’s (insane) demands and at other times she just doesn’t have time for that bullshit but it’s all very balanced and their relationship works. you give and you receive and that’s what’s so beautiful about them i don’t think i’ve ever seen such a mutually beneficial portrayal of the sherlock/watson dynamic and i absolutely adore it. AND OH GOOD HOW CUTE WAS SHE TRYING TO DEDUCE ALL ON HER OWN FOR THE FIRST TIME AND THEN SHERLOCK TEASES HER BUT WHEN SHE GETS IT RIGHT HE MAKES THAT FACE YOU KNOW WHAT FACE LIKE: ‘SHE’S GOOD’ AND SHE SMILES KIND OF BASHFULLY IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN THE WORLD wait why did i describe that entire thing when i can go grab the gif from evie’s sidebar. here:

is beauty
and the way she is the only one who can keep him in check is just grand god bless
ok it’s 3:30am i need to sleep sometime but yes i also love gregson and bell AND MISS HUDSON JUST APPEARED AND SHE IS SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER ALREADY??? so i’m happy about that as well. ALSO C L Y D E. THEY HAVE A PET. THEY LIVE TOGETHER THEY EAT FOOD TOGETHER THEY SOLVE CRIMES TOGETHER AND THEY HAVE A PET.
TORTOISE.

I’m just wondering what they wore in like… medieval times. I mean surely they didn’t wear suits then. Did they wear armor. OR TIGHTS?
Dude, imagine them during The Baroque.

what do you hate about it? sorry I've never seen it/heard of it
no it’s okay so it’s this commercial for chocolate where they made a cgi audrey hepburn which is shockingly realistic but it makes me really uncomfortable and i can’t really explain why
i thought it was kind of slimy to bring a dead actress back to life to sell chocolate but i guess her family said it was great so i guess that’s cool
but just on a personal level it’s just…painful? it would be like in 80 years when cumberbatch is dead they make a…i dunno a jaguar advertisement where a young benedict is driving. how fucking excruciating would that be to see. pretty damn awful, i’d say
sorry this is not a well thought out argument or anything ugh

Someone once pointed out around here that, in the beginning of ‘ASIP’ it sounds like John is shouting “Sebastian” and..they sorta had a point.
OH I just listened back to it then and at the very end of John’s dream just a tiny bit, yeah?
I kind of really like this as a thing!
Book, film or even a quote that left something of an impact on you?
This is going to sound incredibly silly but it’s the first thing that came to mind and that’s The Phantom of the opera. I don’t know what it is about this story but it has stuck with me the moment I discovered it while watching Wishbone. I kid you not, that is how I discovered it. I think it really influenced my taste in things and I’m fairly certain my love of deformed and/or insane villains/anti-heroes comes from my original love of the phantom/Erik.
It just fascinated me to no end and did not let go. I really got into it when I saw the 2004 film and then was like “woah there are so many version of this I must devour them all” and I did just that. I have seen every film adaption that I could get my hands on. I’ve read the books and even have albums of other musical versions aside from the one everyone knows. I can’t get enough of it. I honestly have no clue why and it disturbs my mother.
I was actually in a production of the ALW musical my senior year of high school and it was incredibly emotional to get the chance to live in that world for a bit. It’s magnetic. It is the first story that has truly grabbed me and not let me go. I don’t tire of it and I doubt I ever will.
"#i think this was the song that was playing when i drove for the first time and almost hit a turkey #luv it" -Well that sounds like an interesting story?? :D
there’s this collection of hospitals/medical centers not too far from where i live and it’s a good place to practice driving since the road is pretty spacious and there aren’t a lot of cars there during the weekend
and for some reason there’s a lot of turkeys there? i don’t know why but they are literally always there at any time of year??? also there are like two annoying ones that like to lurk in the parking lot of my apartment complex, along with these deer that eat everyone’s fruits but ANYWAY
it was my first time driving, and i guess i was just ~so proud~ that i parked successfully that i wasn’t paying enough attention and all i remember is that i was reversing the car (terribly of course, i’m still bad at driving tbh) and then my dad screamed and told me to stop
and basically that is the story of how i almost hit a turkey™

Points of clarification: our dating and temperatures are silly, but we grew up using them and change is hard, so we keep using them. 8/7c just means that something airs at 8pm Eastern time and 7pm Central time (at the same time instead of later).
OH MY GODS, BLESS YOUR HEARTS
YOU SOLVED THE MYSTERY OF THE UNIVERSE FOR ME
yeah, well, I guess it makes sense. the whole hour thing-y, not your dating/temperature things. these will never make sense to me.
you are forgetting about the way we measure things (i don’t bc I grew up with the metric system while living in Mexico, but it’s the worst)
oh yeah, I forgot of the joy of the unit system. I gave up on understanding that a long time ago.

It’s because we have multiple time zones. 8/7 c means the show will be broadcast at 8:00 Eastern Time (like New York City) and 7:00 Central Time (like Denver). I have yet to figure out why Central Time does that since it’s 2 hours behind Eastern, tho
thanks for further explanation! I couldn’t crack it for ages, srsly. it is really complicated for someone outside the US, how do you guys cope with it on daily basis, I do not understand.
Since i can't stop thinking about it
inspired by naomi’s tags i have decided to make a collection of gifsets showing every moment in which Sherlock looks at Irene like an idiot because he can’t get enough of her fuck you naomi
just letting you know, the tag for it will be here, it’s gonna be a lengthy process because it’s multi verse and seriously there’s no adaptation in which he doesn’t look at her like an idiot at least once i mean HAVE YOU SEEN RUSSIAN SHERLOCK THAT ONE WAS THE WORST

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! WTF IS THE POINT IN THIS EPISODE IF THEY WONT BE THERE!?! AT LEAST FOR A SEC! UGH
