Dirk and Terezi should be the best worst friends; they can exchange horrible tips and tricks on conning people they care about into being the best they can be, commiserate over romance as related to the terminally oblivious, and freak Dave out just by standing in promixity to each other.
What if instead of having feelings about any character who’s appeared in the last year I have Equius feelings instead.
Yeah.
A good plan.
My Equius problem, aside from, you know, EVERYTHING, is that there are a bunch of characters I really like him interacting with but don’t ship him with at all.
Today I am contemplating Terezi.
Because they don’t like each other, I think.They associate each other with what they respectively view as the worst/most obnoxious aspects of Vriska, and also neither of them thinks the other is good enough for Nepeta.
But at the same time, they don’t dislike each other in a profound and personal enough way to actually fight. Certainly not to somebody-get-ashen-in-here levels, wow no. They can get things done together if they have to.
I would really like a story about them having to work together and being tense and cranky and eventually unloading a lot of poorly-directed blame on each other and ending up grudgingly approving each other for Nepeta {provisionally} {1V3 GOT MY NOS3 ON YOU} {D —> Lovely} and admitting that no one is responsible for Vriska but Vriska.
And not becoming BFF or anything, but. Being slightly more at peace with each other’s existence.

While I am reblogging that South Riding quote let me take the moment to remind y’all that Winifred Holtby and Vera Brittain had a super cute friendship.
As in, they’ve even got a fucking plaque commemorating their friendship. Well, a plaque commemorating their being writers and reformers and living together. But HOW COOL IS THAT?
