“So you’re Emma’s father.” The smirk was audible in Hook’s voice. “You did an excellent job with her.”

David’s eyes flashed a dangerous shade of blue, and he caught Hook’s gaze through the rearview mirror. He hissed protectively, “If you lay a single finger on her, I will skin you with your own hook.”

“Ooh,” Hook raised a sly eyebrow and grinned mischievously. “Don’t worry, lad, I’ll be sure to use more than one finger.”

The car veered suddenly to the left. Hook cursed loudly as his head slammed into the window, and David couldn’t help but smile in satisfaction.
