Dad called with Carole.
Not much was said but sniffing of silent tears and “I can’t believe it” or “It happened” in soft tones.
Then Carole left and it was just my dad and me and he said, “Kurt, kiddo, I’m so happy for you. I’m so proud of you. You know your Mom is there with you. She’s with you now, she’s with me, she was in that Senate Chamber.”
And I cried more and said, “I know, Daddy, I know. I don’t know exactly how we’re doing all this, but please walk me down the aisle.”
And for the first time in years, I heard my Dad actually cry.

I cried like four times for some reason. I just kept getting emotional and I was actually sobbing at the table lol (I think I’m a bit hormonal today…) The first time was when we were singing the happy birthday song and I was like “oh god this is going to be the last time I get to sing this for her as a kid, as someone who lives in this house” and I just teared up like mad.
My mom was very happy.
I have the best mom everyone else go home.
