My thoughts and theories about the 50th anniversary, or, why I believe it's not 'Tentoo' and Rose Tyler after Journey's End who are coming back
Well…. I’m a big fan of Rose and she is my favorite companion right beside Romana, but I’ve been reading some especulations about the 50th anniversary that I don’t agree neither think they are really correct…
First of all we need to remember that the showrunner now is Moffat. He is a big troll, he know how to keep things in secret to surprise the fans and, above all, he is a big fan of the series since he was a child.
Second, we also need to remember that he has a particular preference to write for the characters he create… and we all know he is not particularly fond of Rose’s character… so why, WHY do you all believe that he would bring Rose and Tentoo back? Also, if he is bringing companions back, why would he bring back only a companion he is not fond of? So, this makes me believe that he will really bring back more of the old companions.
In my opinion the announcement of Billie and Tennant’s return is just a well played marketing strategy to tease the fans. Afterall Rose was still winner of last year poll on bbc’s website about who was the most important companion (even beating Sarah Jane). So, if you want to distract the fans from many other cool things you’re going to do/film for the 50th anniversary, I think this announcement would be the best choice.
In the new episode we already had a hint/joke in the boy’s book ‘Summer Falls’ written by Amelia Williams. In the prequel of this episode we had another cameo appearence of a blonde girl playing with a black boy and a blonde woman (apparently a mom) talking to Clara’s mom. This, added the the woman from the shop thing, made fans believe that are hints Rose os coming back. Yes, she is coming back, but I believe that we will get hint about other companions in the next episodes. So… in my opinion this is not all about Rose.
Come on, it’s the 50th anniversary! The special episode needs to make references to everything that made the show what it is today.
Also, I saw a theory about the Doctor losing his memories in the last episode of this season and at first I thought it wouldn’t be cool or work, but then I realized that this would be the perfect Cliffhanger for the special and the perfect reason to bring back all the Doctors and companions. It would be just like the story from the comics of ‘The Forgotten’
It’s the perfect plot for the anniversary! And I wouldn’t be surprised if they would use it, as they already used some plots from the comics in the TV series before.
So… be prepared, ‘cause they are promissing to make more announcements and we might see some old faces in this special. And I know that Moffat would not like to be the guy who messed up with something so big as the 50th anniversary of his favorite series when he was a child…
