Firth does technically good work, and emotionally impressive work, but it’s a performance under glass — meant to be put on a shelf and admired, kept safe from the real world. As Mark Zuckerberg, Eisenberg’s broken, brittle brilliance and insecure arrogance — and moments of true despair he can’t quite articulate — are the stuff of real acting, and of the real world.

but I am loving the Academy Awards so far, and they’ve only given out two awards! That opening skit was hilarious, James Franco is being James Franco on live television in front of his colleagues and millions of people, and Anne Hathaway is the same adorable lady I have enjoyed watching for the last decade. I’m so excited for the next three hours!
