Fake "Clinic" Cons 17-Year-Old Girl
An Indiana mother recently accompanied her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend to one of Indiana’s Planned Parenthood clinics, but they unwittingly walked into a so-called “crisis pregnancy center” run by an anti-abortion group, one that shared a parking lot with the real Planned Parenthood clinic and was designed expressly to lure Planned Parenthood patients and deceive them.
The group took down the girl’s confidential personal information and told her to come back for her appointment, which they said would be in their “other office” (the real Planned Parenthood office nearby). When she arrived for her appointment, not only did the Planned Parenthood staff have no record of her, but the police were there. The “crisis pregnancy center” had called them, claiming that a minor was being forced to have an abortion against her will.
The “crisis pregnancy center” staff then proceeded to wage a campaign of intimidation and harassment over the following days, showing up at the girl’s home and calling her father’s workplace. Planned Parenthood’s clinic director reports that the girl was “scared to death to leave her house.” They even went to her school and urged classmates to pressure her not to have an abortion.
The anti-choice movement is setting up these “crisis pregnancy centers” across the country. Some of them have neutral-sounding names and run ads that falsely promise the full range of reproductive health services, but they dispense anti-choice propaganda and intimidation instead. And according to a recent article in The New York Times, there are currently more of these centers in the U.S. than there are actual abortion providers. What’s more, these centers have received $60 million in government grants. They’re being funded by our tax dollars.

And when we dare complain, they cry about how they’re being persecuted and censored unfairly, and we’re infringing on their freedom of speech. No, just no. This should not be fucking allowed.]
ETA: Some people in the notes were wondering about the veracity of this story so I found the original source (the citation above was all that was given at the website I got this from). Here’s some more quotes from the original story:
We [Planned Parenthood] have obtained permission to share some of the remarks the patient and her family wrote soon after their encounter with the CPC.
“I have been getting phone calls [from the CPC volunteer] at home and on my cell phone, and they came to my work… saying ‘we will come get you and throw you in a car and take you to a place that is safe.’ I made my decision [to have an abortion]. Even though I had talked to [the CPC person] before, she has no right to be giving out information about me [and my family]. They need to quit harassing me and my family and loved ones. They have come to my home banging on my door and non-stop calling me. I have heard racial comments about my boyfriend [and me]. They keep yelling my name, my mother’s, and my boyfriend’s. They have no right giving out my information, and they need to respect my and my boyfriend’s decision. … They are trying to trap me but this is my decision and no person has forced me and I would like them to stop harassing me, my family, my boyfriend, and my work.”
Her mother added:
“These people have given [our personal contact] information to someone at [my daughter’s] school. Now it seems even the students know certain things and are giving my daughter and her boyfriend a hard time as well. Also, the faculty has heard things, too. These people [the CPC personnel] have been standing outside Planned Parenthood yelling obscenities at all who enter. My daughter’s, her boyfriend’s, and my name have been yelled out for all to hear.”

It’s getting to the point where Drake Bell is being a bully. I don’t particularly like JB but bullying is bullying and that’s all there is to it. I mean it was passive aggressive shots at his less stable fans at one point, I get that. But it’s progressed a lot and imo it’s getting ridiculous. And encouraging DB by reposting/retweeting/reblogging/praising him for it only makes him think it’s okay to do.
Harrassment is never okay no matter who it’s from.
Currently, the hate-blog homestuckmakesmecry is going on a binge through the Sollux tag and reblogging artwork by younger, less experienced artists and making callous, abusive comments on them.
“Consider putting out your tablet for trash pickup whenever’s convenient. Do your part in making the world a better place with less of this garbage.”
“What you’re doing should be considered a crime. Artistic homicide, they’ll call it. Please deposit every scrap of shit you’ve ever scribbled into your nearest landfill and weep over the mistakes you’ve made here.”
“It’s so painfully grade school it’s not even funny. You need to stop while you’re ahead and maybe consider donating your art supplies to NASA. Maybe they’ll find some use for it on the surface of the fucking sun.”
as well as being just plain MEAN and uncalled for, these comments are potentially dangerous to have on someone’s artwork. people have hurt themselves over less.
I’m urging our followers, and anyone else who sees this: PLEASE DO NOT STAND FOR THIS. HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- take screenshots of the comments, as proof
- send an abuse report to tumblr. include their URL, as well as the URL of their alt blog, corgismakemecry. include the screenshots as well.
- stop by the victimized artists blogs. make sure they’re ok.
AND TO ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN VICTIMIZED: PLEASE do not take the (intentionally malicious) “opinions” of a couple of internet doucherags seriously. everyone starts somewhere. know that your art is appreciated for the potential it shows, and we’re all incredibly grateful that you’re contributing content to the fandom. don’t let this get you down, but if it does, our ask box is always open to give you all the support and encouragement you need.

In more ways than one!
A judge ordered a California man — convicted for ejaculating into a co-worker’s water bottles — to pay more than $27,000 to his victim.
Superior Court Judge Walter Schwarm said Monday Michael Kevin Lallana, of Fullerton, Calif., must pay restitution for therapy and loss of wages, reports the Orange County Register.

When I get catcalled in public, it is clear that the men aren’t looking to actually get to know me or have a conversation, since it always happens to me in that split second moment we pass each other. They yell at me from a car as they drive by, demand that I smile as we briefly pass in the street, not even giving me enough time to process what just happened. By the time I’ve heard them, they far down the block. No, these men don’t catcall to find a girlfriend or a hookup. They’re just ensuring that women can’t ever forget that in public, our bodies exist for public consumption and that we’re never safe from scrutiny, threats and objectification.

with the help of the lovely Biyuti, I’ve just blocked a couple different IP addresses.
But that’s not it.
I’ve set it up so that the next time these assholes try to visit my blog, they’re going to view some very very nasty things and be re-directed to sites that are real gross.
But that’s not it.
I’ve called some favors and forwarded the I.P. addresses and information to the lovely Scylla and the lovely IMBO, two friends of mine who happen to be very very skilled at interneting. They have subsequently located the I.P. addresses, and the device from which they originate, and as both are skilled hackers I don’t think it requires a lot of imagine to guess what they’re doing right now. (◡‿◡✿)
But that’s not it.
I’ve also taken screen shots of harrassment from one particularly disgusting, invasive anon/Facebook user and with information received have been able to figure out a variety of things, including their the school they attend (they live near me, que sorpresa!) and I am mailing photocopies of the harrassment on Tumblr and Facebook to the principal of their school. (◕‿◕✿)
My point?
This is what you get when you fuck with me.
I do not fucking screw around. You can poke and prod and annoy all you want but you had better be fucking prepared when the gator comes out the swamp. I have ruined the life of my rapist. I have ruined the life of a previous abuser. I will ruin the life of anyone I consider a threat to me or my loved ones, and don’t fucking think for a second I will not hesitate to do it to you.
