Whenever I feel the most like I don’t matter, I somehow have amazing friends like you out there reminding me that I’m not screaming alone into a void, which is something. It is. Your friendship is very real, even across the distances. And you all matter more than you know. I think I’ve developed this fear that because I’m not really a present part of the world, not in a “normal” way, everything I do or think or say loses impact or is easily forgettable. i'll never understand why some people find it rude to talk about things from a tv show that was on years ago. my personal rules for spoilers are if its old or from a past season i don't feel the need to tag it or warn people and the only time i will tag things as spoilers is the first week after a new episode has just aired but once that's up its fair game.
Exactly. I do the same with currently airing shows, and even though the asoiaf series has been around for years I still really try to tag everything. I don’t have to. But I do. So I was a little upset that everyone was pissed at me this afternoon, partially because I’m not feeling great and partially because I KNOW THIS ISN’T A FUCKING GAME!! - I don’t want to spoil anyone or take away the element of surprise. I don’t do it on purpose. I make a consistent effort because I care about these things, and yeah, I slip up. But I do try, and that’s better than most people do.

I 100% agree Matt. its like people forget Elena already mourned her life when she was going to be forced into becomeing a vampire/dying when Klaus was going to kill her so she was passed being scared and accepted her fate, Matt never did he was in the wrong place at the wrong time trying to help his friend nothing more

Elena’s actually made peace with death a couple of times (the scene ON THE WICKERY BRIDGE with Matt earlier in the season, when they tossed the flowers over, was her release of her first life and everything that she’d had to leave behind; and then, exactly as you said, she’d gotten beyond her fear because of what Klaus had done to her.) She had a sense of calm and reason and it was okay, which I don’t even think is an unhealthy or self-sacrificial attitude for her to have - if that was meant to be her final breath, she was ready to accept it. Matt still has an entire life ahead of him (I wish he’d just get the hell out of Mystic Falls at this point, he’s had to suffer so much and no one even gives him credit for how brave he’s had to be ugh BABYYYY). Letting him die would have been selfish and cruel. Unfortunately for Elena, there are fates worse than death. (Never going to be okay.)
