A Pledge
Before Cassidy left for Europe and left me all by my lonesome, she told me, quite forcefully, that she wants the outline for the first volume of my fantasy series done by the time she gets back. I’m glad I have a friend who believes in me so strongly, but the repercussions of not doing it would be really scary. She’d probably sit on me or something.
Lately, I have come to realize just how many people have faith in me and in my chosen path as a writer. Those who know my writing have taken to saying “when you get published” as opposed to “if you get published.” I’m so grateful to anyone who has ever offered me that support, including those of you who have read what little bits of my writing I have made public and those of you who have asked about the stories that I keep private.
You know what? It’s high time I give you all a reason to have such faith in me. I am making a goal and a promise to you; you will see my work on the shelves in the next five years. It doesn’t matter if it’s this particular series (which is incredibly extensive. We’re talking Lord of the Rings status.) or one of my other stories (which is more likely), I will have my work published by then. Deal?
“You can’t just live life waiting for the next weekend to come. Your aspiration should be greater than that. It should be paradise and that should be sought everyday.”
