Bendis and McNiven on Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel held a conference call press release today with Brian Michael Bendis and Steve Wacker, pluggin the release of Guardians of the Galaxy. My favorite quote?
“Groot will always say, ‘I am Groot,’ and someone will write me saying, ‘Groot would never say that’.”
Oh BMB, comics fans are a fickle lot, aren’t they? Still, the more I see of the upcoming GOTG, the more I’m expecting amazing things.
I grew to love these characters during the last GOTG series, and I’m happy to see them getting such high-profile exposure. With the movie coming out, Marvel’s putting their best foot forward, which means some of their top-knotch talent right out of the gate. Look at these beautiful fucking pencils from Steve McNiven.
How is that not worth the price of admission right there? And in this beautiful art there’s Starlord, Groot, Drax, Gamorra, and Rocket? What’s not to love? All this and a bonus Tony Stark. I assume he’s there so new readers have someone they recognize, but since when did including Iron Man make a cast less interesting? If only Phyla were there *single tear*.
I am really, really excited about this book. I’m also looking forward to sending angry letters to Bendis, criticizing his Groot dialogue.
Finally watching Gamorra.

It really sucks when I have to watch a movie and read the subtitles, it limits my capacity to multi-task.
