Adorable gif goes on blog because it makes me happy. Now I am logging off for about 2 hours to get things done!

Also this isn’t really related to anything but.

It seems increasingly clear that nowadays people don’t actually want new consoles very much. The last gen has been long and yet people are comfortable with still playing games for PS3 and 360, there seems to be no rush for newer technologies like there was last gen, probably because people feel that systems can already do what they want them to do.

That’s not to say the new gen won’t be successful, but I wonder if it’ll have a much slower adoption rate than last gen. Games aren’t slowing like they did on PS2/GC/XBOX, nor are people losing interest.

So maybe the idea that “new gens” won’t be a thing anymore after another gen or two is a very real possibility.. Gen8 will probably last even longer (unless PS4 or NextBox royally fuck up in some way - some NextBox rumours seem to indicate that might happen huh) before anyone really wants more powerful games.

Or I could just be looking in the wrong places and maybe everyone is actually creaming themselves at the thought of playing CoD in more betterer graphics than ever before.

You know what’s really strange to think about? The PS3 is now a very widely respected console with tons of great games and exclusives, a solid OS and digital network that works across multiple different Sony systems, and it still gets more great games and exclusives too.

But like the PS3 launched in 2006, and for almost 2-3 years it was widely seen as the laughing stock of the games industry, there were countless image macros about “ps3 fails” and how Sony had ruined a great brand, even songs and stuff about it, photoshops, and that one “ps3 has no games” joke that people still use today (fondly I think)

But yeah looking at the PS3 now it’s hard to believe how badly it started even if lots of us saw it first hand.

This is exactly why long gens are so important and why I think gens in general should be really long! To give those slow-starting systems a chance to really shine. whoa.
