Not clear if that was meant to imply Poison was super effective, or that it was just effective, but at least it was clear that Sylveon lacked the Poisin immunity of Steel.

The Neo-Geo X will bring SNK to the next generation

SNK has given a license to a manufacturer called Blaze to bring back the Neo-Geo to the gaming community, and they seem to have done a fantastic job. The system appears to be a slightly more compact version of the Neo-Geo AES, but with a fundamental difference. It doesn’t have a cartridge slot, but instead, a dock for the handheld, which is the brains of the system.

The Neo-Geo X is truly the handheld device which looks in size comparable to the PSP, sporting a 4.3 inch screen with a concave analog stick, face and shoulder buttons. Having not seen the back of the device, it seems to take its hardware design a bit from Apple. Looking like an iPhone 5 with buttons on it being flat and all, so how comfortable this will be for extended periods of gaming. Who knows.

The device is pre-loaded with 20 games, which worried me that it was going to be another Atari Flashback style console, but it does appear to take games on SD Cards, so future releases for the Neo-Geo X are almost assured, which is fantastic because I would love to see ports of Neo-Geo Pocket games and other Neo-Geo titles be released on the system.

Though, that isn’t what makes this alluring. The dock and the controller for at home use does. The device connects with HDMI, so if you have a bad upscaling chip in your HDTV, this won’t have an issue with it. The controller however is a direct replica of the Neo-Geo home console controller, designed for the best at home arcade experience money can buy. It only comes with one controller sadly in the Gold Edition bundle, but, you can buy a second one separately when this is released on December 6th, 2012.

All in all, count me excited and probably an earlyish adopter of this system when it comes out. SNK is an overlooked developer here in the states, and I hope this might open people up to their amazing games.
