The kitchen manager of one of the few vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free etc friendly restaurants in Omaha, NE was shot in the face this past weekend. He doesn’t have health insurance and is gonna need a lot of surgery and could really use your help (donation fund here). As a part-time Omahan and someone the city grew from its ground, I can promise you that McFosters is as close to an ethical business as the city’s got and their staff is always kind, helpful and accepting. Not only do they cater (DELICIOUSLY) to every dietary choice and restriction, they allow community members to distribute any kind of literature in their entryway, host film screenings and activist meetings (they hosted the first occupy organizing meetings in Omaha and I have attended glbtqai and anti-military meetings there myself) that don’t have a venue anywhere else, as well as hosting, promoting and feeding local musicians and countless other methods of community support.
Seriously, please help. McFoster’s is also one of the few places I guarantee will take this man back on their staff, without a question, regardless of what his face looks like after surgery and how long his rehabilitation takes. They’re good people, and they deserve your help.
Also, if you don’t have the $, please repost for your followers who might.
