making this post about umbridge

i forgot to mention that not only voldemort is back and not only his summer is the worst BUT he also gets attacked by dementors!!!! and then he’s accused of lying and HAS TO GO TO A TRIAL

he’s fifteen

and for some horrifying time he thinks maybe he can never go back to hogwarts!!!! 

but then he meets umbridge and she’s awful and then suddenly SHE’S HIS TEACHER

and we could say (i’m saying it) that umbridge represents the ultimate threat to freedom while harry is the actual embodiment of freedom

BECAUSE

(because freedom is always the point)

because umbridge changes everything and actually destroys the possibilities of doing some things and she’s the threat to freedom in the fact that she just decides that there’s ONE ideal that all the students should aspire to and if they don’t then she just makes them bleed

MEANWHILE harry james’ whole everything (his life his body WHATEVER everything!!!) is about fighting for freedom (because freedom is EVERYTHING) first it’s his own freedom by being the one who decides of his own fate and then by forever refusing enslavement and voldemort who is also a threat to freedom (but generally! in this book it’s umbridge)

and how does this act out

umbridge gives all of her rules and you will not do this and you will do that and harry doesn’t care and TELLS THE TRUTH because in this case truth = freedom because the truth is precisely that someone (voldemort) is trying to take your freedom away

and about truth harry spends the book telling the truth and no matter how many times he gets insulted or actually hurt he does not STOP because he believes in it, and he gives interviews about it no matter what trouble it might bring him (because FREEDOM) while the only way umbridge is getting the truth is by veritaserum (because it isn’t the truth ! it’s a specific truth that she wants to use against freedom and in fact veritaserum makes people say things NOT BY CHOICE and is in consequence an enemy of freedom too i have no idea where i’m going with this)

WHAT DID I WANT TO SAY

that umbridge is a/the threat to freedom not only because she represents the ministry of magic which as a whole does not actually respect freedom that much, but because she specifically is against it

and harry is the opposite

harry tells the truth

harry gets up everyday and gets insulted and gets called a liar but he never falters

and then there’s dumbledore’s army

it’s hermione’s idea but harry chooses it because if harry had said no it wouldn’t have happened

and he chooses it

and he chooses it because IT’S FOR FREEDOM

not because hermione and ron say it’s a good idea or because he thinks this is what he has to do or because he’s in any way obliged to do it but it’s a CHOICE

the choice of freedom!!!!!!!!!

it’s resistance against the oppression brought on by umbridge and the ministry, and at the same time a resistance against voldemort

and it’s about freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but it’s those posts that are just meant to be true like “this is the way to do things, listen to me, i know better”
