The trick with writing flirty scenes is to make them flow and try to stay away from the cheese.
This can be really hard to do convincingly, especially if like me you struggle with flirting anyway!
But together, we will overcome this.
Verbal Flirting
There are different types of flirting and verbal flirting is probably the one you think about when writing a flirty scene.
- Joking
- Compliments
- Taking an active interest in the other person
Non Verbal
This is the subtle type of flirting that is always going on behind the scenes. Battering eyelashes is one example of this form of flirting.
- Leaning close
- Smiling
- Turning body so you face them
- Mimicking movements
Flirty Banter
Flirty banter tends to happen when two people are close enough to feel comfortable joking around with each other, perhaps making fun of each other or poking fun in themselves. It is never really serious so most flirty banter is light hearted and fun.
