    Weekly recap time: YAY! :)

    Last Saturday (May 26):

Awesome dance class despite falling really hard on my back. (I’m okay- just a bruise.) Small class with Michelle who helped me cultivate some of the “attitude” in my dances. My reel is pure joy while my hornpipe and set are more jazzy/teasing/sexy/cool. Rhythm is getting better all the time. After some food from the farmer’s market (“Chia Pet” sandwich, organic ginger-vanilla cheesecake, and a homemade pickle), Traumeel, and a dip in the pool with The Boy, my back was as good as new. (Oh yeah…I also had to put both my SI joints back into place…fun stuff!)

My dad, ex-basketball coach, gave The Boy (who lacks confidence and is leaving for college in August) and me (trying to make my last year of intense dancing count) some advice: use mantras to direct beneficial thoughts. “Where your mind goes, your body will follow.” His is, “I’m worth it.” Mine is “I’m a champion.” (with or without expletives, depending on how confident I’m feeling) Now we remind each other to repeat them. Nice tactics, Dad. :)

    Monday (May 28):

Once again another small class with Michelle because the majority of the champs were returning from Ohio. It was one of those “trough” classes where things weren’t as good as they were Saturday, but that’s the natural ebb and flow of things. Rhythm was better despite tight muscles.

    Wednesday (May 30):

Back to Nevin we go! He was happy with my foot exercise progress and added some more glute/hip exercises. Also the secret to splits is yoga blocks. I’ll see him again Tuesday. :)

    Thursday (May 31):

Forgot my shoes in my school bag so I had to dance in a pair of too big hardshoes which was cause for much hilarity in class. Spent the other half of class joking with Michael and worrying about Debbie (nansbound).

    Today I need to…

    • eat
    • stretch/work out
    • finish my annotated bibliography for AP English
    • practice/put together music for my dance at ITS inductions
    • do ITS (International Thespian Society) inductions

    Allons-y!

I eat and eat to fill this void in me, this big chunk of emptiness I feel, and to distract me from the ever looming sense of anxiety and fear. I keep eating, until I ruin any chance there is for me to fill these empty spaces and beat these fears. Then, I eat because I can’t achieve what I need to feel sane, to feel… normal.

    It’s a harsh cycle.

I was a lacto-ovo vegetarian for 21 years (from the womb ‘til a couple years ago). I started eating fish about 2 years ago and then just this past month, started eating chicken. I still refuse to eat pigs or cows. It’s just a personal choice… not saying everyone else should follow suit!

So I know what it’s like to hunt for the meat-free items on a menu or in the grocery store. It can be tough, but if that’s genuinely what you believe in, it’s worth it! I didn’t do it to lose weight, it was simply how I was raised (my mom has been a vegetarian since she was a child, after seeing her grandfather slaughter animals on his farm one day). So I was literally a vegetarian in the womb. =) It has become increasingly easier to find amazing tasting vegetarian options... so if that is something you’re leaning toward, don’t stress about feeling deprived. =)

Channa Serenity is a Raw Vegan athlete! (Girl in the photo). For those of you who do or want to follow that kind of lifestyle, she would be a good person to “follow”.

    Just a couple days off…oops…

Day 7: Do your parents know you’re trying to loose weight? Do they care?

I think they know. They definitely know I have been losing weight :) They’re cool with it, my mom’s been on Jenny Craig for years and even my dad tries to loose a pound here and there so we’re pretty much a house of dieters most of the time anyway.

    Day 8: Your workout routine

I don’t really have a set routine. I’m trying to focus more on eating right than exercising so I often skip a day or two of working out. Most of my exercising includes running and various strength like pushups, sit ups and squats.

Day 9: Did people ever comment on your weight in a negative way?

Of course. Never people I care about though, it’s always strangers or people I only vaguely know so their opinions don’t really matter.

Day 10: What was the hardest thing you gave up during this “weight loss”

Cookies. I literally had to get them out of the house and plead with my mom not to buy any because I couldn’t walk past them without grabbing like 6.

Day 11: Your favorite thinspo blog and why.

I’m not sure I only follow like 3 or 4 mostly I just track the fitness tag and get inspiration and motivation from there.

Day 12: What do you normally eat?

Again there’s really no normally, it changes from day to day. The things that don’t really change though are cereal in the morning and smaller portions throughout the day.

Day 13: Are you losing weight in a healthy or unhealthy way.

I think it’s pretty healthy, portion control, lots of veggies and fruits, minimal junk foods and I work out  no less than twice a week.

Day 14: What’s your UGW and when do you expect to reach it.

my UGW is 125 and at the rate I’m going I should get there by November although hopefully I’ll be close by September.

Day 15: Are you vegan or vegetarian? If so has this helped you loose weight? If not would you ever consider becoming vegan or vegitarian?

I am not vegan or vegetarian. I’ve though about it before even tried it. I like vegetarian food but damn it I love bacon, burgers and chicken nuggets just too damn much.

There we go all caught up :)

Workouts are like brushing my teeth; I don’t think about them, I just do them. The decision has already been made.
