Mayyors drummer Julian Elorduy is the singer in Fine Steps. The Mayyors were a pummeling Sacramento band, Fine Steps don’t pummel they kind of jangle and pop. Elorduy has a cool deep voice to deliver the goods. the song reminds me a little of Girls Names and Sea Pinks. Somebody put out this record!

Track: Fine Steps - Tomorrow For All Of Today

Does anyone remember Mayyors? Well, let me refresh your memory. Mayyors were one of the most blistering garage punk bands to ever come out of Sacramento, or anywhere for that matter. Sadly, they broke up after only 2 years, but the good news is some of the members are continuing to make music. Fine Steps is a new band out of Sacramento and an all star band of sorts. They’re lead by former Mayyors’ drummer Julian Elorduy, and he’s joined by Ganglians’ Alex Soles and Kyle Hoover. “Tomorrow for All of Today”, their first released recording, isn’t exactly Mayyors 2. The track finds itself leaning more towards Ganglians’ territory, which if you’re a fan like me, you’ll have no trouble digging Fine Steps.

Fine Steps - Tomorrow For All of Today

Look for Fine Steps’ debut LP Boy’s Co. to be released early next year.

Song: Fine Steps // “Tomorrow for All of Today”.

Back in May, the Fine Steps were recording some tracks at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. I hadn’t seen some of these dudes in months since they’re pretty occupied with other bands: guitarist Kyle Hoover and bassist Alex Sowles also play in Ganglians, Dylan plays in GGreen, and front-man Julian Elorduy is the former drummer of the monster band known as The Mayyors. Yes, a Sacramento power group. The studio sessions took me back - I had no idea Alex could play bass! I’ve been describing it like this: “It’s as if The Mantles and Ganglians had a baritone voiced love child.” Hope you enjoy it, and look forward to some more amazing Fine Steps tracks - I’ve heard a few, they’re pretty dope!

Fine Steps is Julian from Mayyors.  He is now joined by dudes from GGreen and Ganglians.  They also played our house party (with Shark Toys and Vex Ruffin).  We had fun.

These dudes played a party in my backyard (with Fine Steps and Shark Toys) this past weekend.  They rule!  This is their brand new video for a postcard 7” single out on Stones Throw.

Blasted Canyons get loud at the Hemlock tonight (6/15) with Sacramento’s Fine Steps and Boom Bang, 9PM $6.

Blasted Canyons – the rhythm ridden trio will have their new LP for sale tonight! The much anticipated record is being put out by John Dwyer’s label Castle Face Records. Opening the show are the Fine Steps – a Sacramento super group consisting of former MAYYORS drummer Julian Elorduy, with two Ganglians: Kyle Hoover and Alex Sowles, plus a few young bucks. I got a chance to drop by the Fine Steps recording sessions at Tiny Telephone a few weeks ago, and the steps have some real magic. It sounds like a Ganglians and Mantles sweet baritone voiced love child – you’ll be excited, I promise. Oklahoma’s Boom Bang also play.
