Important Announcement: A New Way to Help Others Find the Starlight

For some of us, this story is beginning to evolve into more than just a passing curiosity.  We are actively involved in the story, and we want to see it succeed and grow and envelope as many people as possible.  To that end, fellow Starlighter 28purplelions and I have hatched an interesting idea.  I saw some folks who were recently asking M questions, worrying that people would encounter his items in the real world and not know what to do with them or how to follow them back to the website where their context would come into focus.  This is a way to bring people to the page, and it’s also a way for you to get physically involved with the story in a new way.

28purplelions and I (who found out through FTS that we live in the same area, how awesome is that?!) have created an image with a message from M and a QR code that leads folks back to the “Find the Starlight” project.  From now until the end of the Kickstarter, it will redirect folks to the Kickstarter page.  On February 10th after the Kickstarter is over, the code will automatically redirect to the main story entries listed in chronological order so people can read the story from the beginning.  If you use this QR code exclusively, we’ll be able to do really cool things like track analytics to see where and how often it’s been scanned, and we’ll be able to manipulate the URL it redirects to (in the event that there’s another Kickstarter or something) so that one QR code can be spread a bunch of different places and always be relevant to the current events of the story.

So here’s the idea — print these off.  Canvas the city with your friends.  Post them everywhere (that’s legal and safe, of course).  Print them out on adhesive paper and stick them to things.  Pin them to public announcement boards.  Leave them at bus stops.  Stick them to your notebook covers.  Slip them into library books.  Do everything you can, and let’s see how far we can get the story to spread.  I’ll post updates about the analytics if anything interesting happens, especially if we start to see scans of the QR code go national or international in scope.  The more push we have from now until February 10th, the better.  And after that, it will still be a great way that you can be part of spreading a little of M’s magic into the real world so that others can share in the story.

Also, take pictures of the places you post these suckers and put them in the hashtag, Branch, or Facebook.  Just for fun, and to see who can come up with some of the most interesting ideas and photos.
