As my final week of high school is about to start, I’m re-reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a story about a boy’s first year in high school, for about the hundredth time while listening to the One Winter playlist. It’s strangely nostalgic, that book taught me so much about myself. I’ve never read a book that truly spoke to me as much as Perks. I relate so strongly to all of Charlie’s insecurities and faults and hopes for the future. I feel like his voice is my voice. He has such a capacity for love inside him but struggles to navigate through the complex social dynamics of high school.
