one thing that upsets me is when people say things like "Cambodians aren't shit"

or that we’re “uneducated, cheap, and poor.”

Well, take a look at our history… with the communism and genocide that took place, it lead to more than a million deaths. We lost A LOT. We lost land to other countries, writers, teachers, famous musicians, basically anyone with skills and an education were killed. Our country is STILL trying to gain back what was taken away many years ago.

We’re uneducated? Tell me why most of the kids in Cambodia LOVE going to school? They LOVE and WANT to learn. Most kids aren’t in school because their families can’t afford it OR they don’t HAVE a family to put them in school. Children at the age of 7 start walking around looking for plastics and metals to sell to make money in order to survive. Same goes for us Cambodians who live in the U.S or anywhere else, we still go to school and we make the BEST out of our education.

You call us poor? Yeah okay, we may not be one of the most “financial countries” out there, some families may not be able to own “everything” in the world; but you know what, the people in Cambodia, all the historic sites, and all the temples including Angkor Wat ARE what MAKES CAMBODIA RICH. Angkor Wat is much more older than the ignorant people who say these things and is worth hell of A LOT more than anyone can make, its PRICELESS. Angkor Wat is one of the 7 wonders of the world, you didn’t think of that when you made that ignorant comment now did ya? Oh yeah, we’re ”poor” alright. 

The people in this country are one of the most genuine and sweetest people you will ever meet. You could be dying on the street, and we’ll still help you. We help eachother. We’re still making it out there in this world. Cambodians are not “stupid” neither is any other ethnicity.
