“Keep moving, keep cool, stay alive, force air through your lungs, oxygen into your blood. Keep moving. Keep cool. Stay alive.”

—Anderson Cooper, Dispatches From the Edge

Field Reporter: Jared Powell

image

The youngest reporter under Bachmann, Jared, at twenty four, is an up and comer in the field. He hasn’t had a chance to make his name yet, but he’s ambitious, earnest, easy going field reporter fresh out of university. His main focus is on entertainment, celebrity news and sports, but he hopes to be able to break out into more hard hitting journalism soon. A bit too happy-go-lucky, Jared’s lucky if he makes it to work on time most days. He’s also dealing with his burgeoning sexuality, as he recently realized that it wasn’t that he didn’t like sex, he just didn’t like sex with girls. His family was supportive, as were his friends, but Jared’s being a bit of a giggly idiot about the entire event. Regardless, his writing improved, and Bachmann is starting to think about ways that she could promote the young man.

Field Reporter: Rachel Bachmann

Rachel, at twenty nine, is the lead reporter. She came to Shiloh after she graduated high school, started out as an intern and has worked hard ever since to earn her keep at the Guardian. She is from the same hometown as David Shepherd, and would have never guessed that the boy from all those years ago would ever come to the city. Rachel is energetic, quick on her toes and possesses a biting humor that she definitely didn’t learn in the country. She encourages her reporters, no matter what, but she does at least make an attempt to remind them that there are limits.
