Hello hello hello I am overjoyed, elated, excited, any word that could possibly be used to describe how I feel about “Let Them Eat FASHION” should be placed here_____. So lets chat. I just finished FFFweek and for those who are not aware of what FFFweek is, let me briefly explain. FFFweek stands for Full figured Fashion WEEK. It was started by Mogul Gwen Devoe of Devoe Signature Events back in 2009 and it has grown immensely each year proceeding. There are tons of events going on and for three fun, informative and empowering days the curvy women take over NYC with lots of shopping, parties, fashion shows, competitions, and discussion panels.

I was lucky enough to be chosen as a volunteer for the Finale which was held at the beautiful Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square/NYC. So let’s get to the even better information, CLOTHES…wall to wall fashion and style every where you turned. High heels, gowns, short dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, hats, feathers, flowers, tiaras; it was an extravaganza (one of my fave words BTW) not to be missed. There were plenty of designers on the runway but I’m only going to name the ones that truly caught my eye: Jill Alexander, Sweetooth Couture, Margaux Kouture, Kmart LYS line (yes I said Kmart), and La’ Dan’s Closet. They all have websites as well as pages on Facebook if you would like to see their designs.

Jill Alexander showcased beautiful bold prints on asymmetrical wrap dresses, maxi dresses and my favorite was an ankle length sequined green dress w/ a sash around the waist perfect for a semi-formal to formal event. Next, is Sweetooth Couture. Her line was very playful with bright colors mixed in with some traditional black and whites. She was reminiscent of Betsey Johnson, another one of my fave designers. My fave outfit out of this line would have to be their Truffle skirts. This skirt came in a beautiful bright orange and they screamed, “play in me.” Though these skirts were not skin barring, they are not for the shy. Be bold and proud when wearing these skirts is what I say. Margaux Kouture, the name alone was very fetching and the line matched its owner with a key piece standing out; a beautiful all white asymmetrical ruffle collar dress being my eye catcher. Now, I mentioned before that Kmart LYS was one of the designers and at first I was quite skeptical of what was gong to come out on the runway but they quickly changed my frown to a smile. With relaxed looks in dark denim jeans, jeggins, flattering sweaters, and sheer tops Kmart has definitely stepped up their fashion game and has gained a new patron, ME. I definitely saved the best for last. La’Dan’s Closet started from beginning to end in the most daring, figure flattering pieces but of course there was an item that grabbed me and would not let me go and that item was the Black Double Breasted High Collar Cape coat as well as the mink and fox fur vest. When wearing these two pieces there is no room for shyness honey. These two items are definitely a conversation piece.

With all that said, FFFweek was a huge success and I look forward to bringing more reviews of all the designers in the weeks to come. Come back next week for your serving of Let Them Eat FASHION *dings bell* Order up!
