What good thing has insecurity ever given you? I guess it sometimes feels really humble and holy to think that you basically suck, but it’s time to get honest: that’s not what true humility is about. Insecurity wants pity, but you’re not pitiful. You are the beloved child of Almighty God. There’s nothing pitiful about you. God Himself made you, wanted you to be His very own, handcrafted an amazing plan for your very best and wants to use you in some incredible way to change the world forever. The truth is, you couldn’t get any more important that you are, right now.
Part of your insecurity comes from the fact that you can’t always see what the Lord is doing with your life. Things don’t always seem that amazing or world-changing and sometimes, it all kind of looks like a train wreck. You don’t know what God is up to and you don’t know what He sees in you. If you’re honest, sometimes you wish your life was more than it is or bigger than it is. Sometimes you wish that your impact was obvious and undeniable. Well, it may never be like that. In fact, God rarely works that way. He likes to keep His best work under cover, using people who seem to be small-time. That’s why Jesus said the last will be first. He is pleased to topple the balance of the world with servants and outcasts. He loves to confound the powerful and wise with the poor and the broken. He delights to use the weak and the feeble.
You don’t need to spend another day being insecure. It’s causing you so many problems and bringing so much unnecessary heartbreak. It’s time to graduate from insecurity. It’s time to walk away from it forever. This really comes down to a decision. Do you believe you are who Jesus says you are? Do you believe that the Son of God spilling His blood for you makes you the most important person in the history of the world, or do you think you also need to accomplish something big? Do you believe God wants to change the world using your life? Do you believe God? This is the moment you can decide to go ahead and completely believe what Jesus says about you. It’s up to you, and if you go down the road of total belief, you’ll be free and glad, knowing you’re loved, knowing your life matters and knowing (even when you can’t see it) that God is up to something huge through you.
