This has nothing do with with my current situation, but this is something that has bothered me, no thanks to the internet:
Why is it when the “younger”, not-so-established emcee takes shots at the “older,” established emcee, they’re deemed as the following:
- Hungry
- Ambitious
- Determined
- Next big thing
But, when the shoe is on the other foot and the “older,” established emcee takes shots at the “younger,” not-so-established emcee, they’re deemed as the following:
- A bully
- Old
- Washed up
- Irrelevant
Fair Game || Lieutenant Lowell
Shepard shouldn’t have laughed, really — she was technically making fun of him, but he knew he’d probably lose anyway. The girl he’d played before scolded him for thinking of a game of chess like the battlefield; using tactics that would only work in real life or death situations. But Shepard was Shepard, and that was just how he thought about things. Always on the edge of his seat, unable to relax during a something as small and insignificant as a game of chess.
“No need to go easy on me,” Shepard grinned, shaking his head and gesturing for her to walk alongside him. The Presidium Commons usually had spare seating available for crew on leave and it’d be an atmosphere calm enough for a game. “Unless you’re some kind of international champion, then… yeah — go easy on me.”
