“We’ll write you every week, honey,” a woman says, smiling down at her eleven year-old daughter.
Brittany grins back. “And write to Santana, too,” she says, sparing the girl a quick glance past her mother’s arm. “You know, in case her parents forget.”
Mrs. Pierce nods. “Of course we’ll write to Santana. I know how busy her parents are.”
Mr. and Mrs. Lopez are two of the head healers at St. Mungo’s, which mean they’re often more focused on their patients than their family. They’re nice, good people who carry a lot of responsibility, and sometimes their responsibilities overlap; meaning Santana spends more nights in Brittany’s bed than she does her own, and she’s become somewhat of a second daughter to the Pierces.
“Britt!” Santana’s clear voice shouts from somewhere in front of her as she comes running into view. “C’mon! The train’s about to leave!”
Seriously, though: a misconception is that ladies want dudes to apologize for being dudes. We don’t.
We want dudes to apologize for being misogynist.
Most dudes do misogynist things! Hey, most ladies do, too, because wow internalized oppression. Feminists want: men to apologize in the instances in which they do something misogynistic, and then try to do better.
Were the universal response to a lady saying “hey, that thing you said/did was misogynistic” the guy going “oh, shit!! you’re right, i’m sorry. i’ll try not to do it again”, there would literally be no problem.
In reality, though, the universal response is jsJKDFJKSDF FLIPS A TABLE NO IT WASNT YOURE OPPRESSING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and that is where the problem lies
