- TROLL BIOLOGY DUMP PART 1: THE BEGINNING: Perceived Troll Evolution [externalized link available soon]
Excerpt:
Earth science provides evidence that, as a whole, animal life began in the water and extended onto land. Yet also we see evidence, such as all sea mammals (particularly whales), of land animals evolving back into the ocean. The question is where are the trolls in this. Are the sea dwellers more “evolved” or are the land dwellers?

Excerpt:
Perhaps the most perplexing mystery about the troll species is their wide variation of blood color. The “hemo-spectrum” serves to many as a reminder of how fanciful these creatures are. Surely nothing can explain this wide and random variation in troll biology. Yet there are three hypotheses that I will put forward to explain these blood variations: one hemo-chemical, one hemo-genetic, one hemo-phosphorescent.
- TROLL BIOLOGY PART 3: THE HEMOLYMPHATIC SYSTEM: BLOOD AND BLOOD COLOR. [externalized link available soon]
Excerpt:
To simplify this as much as I can, oxygen rich water enters where oxygen rich blood is exiting to the body and oxygen poor water leaves where oxygen poor blood is entering from the body. Since water will always have an oxygen concentration higher than the blood, this means that the blood will always be accepting oxygen from the water.

There seem to be people in the fandom who think that a moiraillegiance literally CANNOT BE anything other than “one troll calming a more volatile one down and keeping them from flying off the handle”. Obviously all the quadrants are up for interpretation, since we don’t get a whole lot about any of them in canon, but I think that interpretation is just way too simplistic. There is no one true way that even human romance works, so I think it’s pretty silly to try to say that there’s only one formula for a proper moiraillegiance and a pair can’t be good moirails if they don’t fit into that really narrow definition.
One thing to pay attention to is that it’s stated that the romantic ideal for a troll is to have all four quadrants filled, which means that ideally, every troll has a moirail. That doesn’t really make sense if you think that moiraillegiance is ONLY a weaker troll calming their stronger protector, because not only is it pretty silly to assume that every single troll fits one of two temperaments, we’re shown trolls who don’t.
So I think it makes a lot more sense to assume that the purpose of a moirail is much more general. Your moirail is your fated partner. I think a good synonym for it would be ‘soulmate’, someone without whom you and your life would be incomplete. Someone who can help you grow and take care of you when you need it. Someone who can and does know every part of you, including all the nasty ones you hide from everyone else, and who still loves you and wants to help you. Someone who you can trust completely, without reserve.
Instead of those two specific personalities, it makes more sense to say that complementary personalities make a good moiraillegiance. You and your moirail need to work well together, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be opposites. As long as you can support and care for each other and shore up each other’s weak points, then you’re a good pale match, regardless of whether or not one of you is a ravening murderer barely restrained by the gentle papping of your partner.
Ayoko lang talaga na binabalik yung topic na yun. What’s done is done. Nag apologize na sila, I heard their side at kung bakit nila ako ginanun and that’s enough. Ok na yun para talikuran lahat ng nangyare sa past. Because most of what happened in the past caused me pain and sapat na siguro yung mga practical applications na nagawa ko sa present dahil sa past. Basta, ayoko lang talaga na binabalik yung mga kwentong yun. Kasi naalala ko lang yung dati eh. Siguro nga I’ve learned pero I remained scarred and more guarded. At kahit sabihin siguro na I’ve moved on from what happened, basta may something na mag trigger na ipaalala yun, the scars will be opened again and will cause me to feel the same pain.
Totoo pala yun na may mga wounds talaga na, although gumaling, andun parin yung scar na magpapaalala sayo kung gano kasakit yun.
“If we steal thoughts from the moderns, it will be cried down as plagiarism; if from the ancients, it will be cried up as erudition. ”
—Charles Caleb ColtonI’m good at imagining myself being in other people’s shoe. Even just by watching dramas, I get easily affected by the scenes because I’m always thinking,
“what if these things happened to me?”
“What if I AM the one who’s in her position and it happens to me?”
“What if we are on the same state of living?”
“What if those things are actually happening to me right now”
And of course, driven by lots of emotions just by imagining me in their position, I would really be in tears and have my heart and soul broken. Just by seeing such circumstances happening to other people, fictional or not, I would also wonder, would I survive if I am there?
