So I just found out about Stuart Walker. For those who don’t know his story, this is it:
He’s a lovely person, but gay. Nothing wrong with that, right? Apparently some other people didn’t think along the same lines as me. They chose to beat him up, kill him, and set him on fire.
Every day I read about so much cruelty in this world. There is so much pain. When is it going to end? When is the world going to be a safe place for those discriminated? When is the world going to realise extinct animals never come back? When is the world going to realise that cruelty must come to an end? When is the world going to realise the true meaning of equality?
This is why I have decided to focus my post A level art work on raising awareness on issues that I feel strongly for. I am going to take this to university with me. And that is a promise I make to myself. I shall try my best to contribute to making this world a better place to live in, where nobody is crushed because of who they are.

Skittles Are Still Not Vegan
There have been a few reblogged posts going around about Skittles changing their recipe and “becoming vegan”. Now, there are lots of reasons people adopt an animal free diet, so perhaps this won’t matter to some- but I know it will to others who follow Sara Eats.
The Skittles recipe may be vegan, but Skittles are still very much not vegan. Skittles is a division of Mars, a company that not only allows animal testing, but funds it.
Mars has come under criticism by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for funding animal tests which the group alleges are inhumane, including a study regarding angiogenesis and spatial memory in which mice were force fed catechins, a candy ingredient, then compelled to exercise in a wheel or water maze.

I’m not posting this to be a downer or to single anyone out. Mistakes can and DO happen. I know that sometimes it feels like you’re swimming upstream trying to find pre-packaged food that’s acceptable, or companies that are trustworthy.
I just know that we’re supposed to look out for each other. I know that I can trust in you to point out a mistake if I make one, because all I really want is to do the right thing. Pass this along if you can, please.

I would like to remind those who are tempted that rabbits are NOT good Easter gifts. They require much care and attention, and have a lifespan of 10-15 years. Unless your family is prepared for the long-term responsibility, please stick to stuffed toys for Easter!
Also, ditch the dairy and try having some raw vegan chocolate to celebrate Easter. Lets keep this holiday cruelty-free!
