the waiting game

I am currently playing the waiting game. every day, I get asked about five times: when are you leaving? when are you leaving? when are you leaving? my official answer: no clue, unfortunately. just waiting for that magic package in the mail or that magic email. this limbo is very very frustrating because it prevents me from making any future plans and keeps my host family waiting. I can’t wait to be in turkey, finally starting the long process of learning a new language and making new friends. still, I know some one somewhere is working on my behalf and there is very little I can do to hurry the process.

in the meantime, I’m spending as much time as possible with my family and my friends. last night, I went out to empire (a beautiful little beach town about an hour’s drive from me) and watched to sun slip away into lake michigan. I am very fortunate to be going somewhere beautiful, but I am also very fortunate be from somewhere beautiful.

I’ll update everyone when I finalllllly get that magic date!
