Spring Fever: Spring Scents

When I first start thinking about spring, I picture shedding layers, leaves growing on barren trees, and flowers blooming. Not only do I shed layers of clothes but I also lighten my make-up and change what lotions and potions I slather on my body. I go away from the more musky, woodsy, winter smells and into much lighter fair. Just as nature is changing out doors; in doors so is my routine. I went ahead and asked a few of my favorite women, in my life, what scent they were planning on wearing this spring and thus this floral guide to perfume was born.

Lavender: Lavender Body Oil by Trader Joe’s- For the natural girl, organic essential oils are the way to go to get the soothing, relaxing, and calming affects of lavender. Just what my fellow DD contributor, Sutton, needs being a new mom & busy business owner. She doesn’t care for spray perfumes and also gets her lavender scent from Whole Food’s 365 Everyday Lavender Body Lotion and lavender infused local Dope on a Rope products.

Jasmine: Alien by Thierry Mugler- For the adventurous girl not only is this bottle funky, but so is its mix of amber, cashmeran, & jasmine. Some say the bottle looks like a penguin. I personally don’t see it, but my outgoing friend loves this other worldy; yet, sweet smelling perfume.

Iris: Neroli Chamomile by elizabethW- For the hip girl this San Francisco based company creates unique perfumes bottled in sleek packaging. Described as a floral bouquet of neroli, ylang ylang & iris I can only imagine this perfume to be as soothing as its title. DD contributor, RM, loves her Leaves perfume by the same brand & if she swears by ‘em then it must be worth checking out.

Rose: CoCo Mademoiselle by Chanel- For the modern girl this luxurious perfume is full of citrus, vanilla & rose aromas. My friend who wears this is all things classy, sexy and stylish.

Lily of the Valley: Diorissimo by Dior & Sweet Temptation Body Mist by Victoria’s Secret- For the timeless woman Diorissimo is a classic. It is literally described as a “dewy spring morning.” Can’t get any more springy than that. It’s a mature blend of jasmine, iris, lavender and lilly of the valley. This perfume reminds me of my Mom. Why? Because it was her pick of course. And like mother like daughter, my choice Sweet Temptation carries the same notes of lily of the valley. For the girly girl this splash of apricot, grapefruit and lily of the valley makes me feel awake and fresh just like a spring morning.

I think scents create memories and for me florals remind me of spring.
