Interesting Election Maps From The Past

1936- The year everyone voted Blue except for Maine and Vermont

This election is the most lopsided in US History. This election was between Incumbent, FDR and Republican challenger, Alfred M. Landon. FDR went on to win an astonishing 523 electoral votes, to Landon’s 8. This would be FDR’s second term of four elected terms, though he died 3 months into his fourth.

1972- The year everyone voted Red except for Massachusetts and Washington D.C.

This race was between Incumbent Richard Nixon, and Democrat challenger, George McGovern. Electorate votes 520 to 17. Unfortunately we all know how this turned out. He is not a crook.

1976- The year the entire South voted Blue.

Race between Democratic challenger, Jimmy Carter, and Incumbent Gerald Ford. Jimmy Carter ran as an outsider, a little know peanut farmer from Georgia. AHA! Georgia! That explains it. Jimmy Carter would go on to pardon tricky dick and is now referred to by some as the worst POTUS the country has ever seen.
