I'm so excited
I went to the activities fair today and I actually joined up for stuff! I’ve never been one to be apart of school related things but I always really wanted to be so I’ve decided its time! I signed up for eco club and animal rights club, both of which I have a huge interest in, and the eco club runs a garden that I would love to help tend! I also signed up for cooking club (yum!) and the newspaper, because I’m an English major and I really should be apart of it especially because I want to be an editor. I also signed up for Rugby!! I’ve always wanted to play but I don’t know how and I’m shy and I just never did, but I’m so so so excited that I finally did! Practice starts next week and it would be the best exercise, especially because I need to improve my lung strength. And I’ll meet so many people being in a sport. So proud of myself :) Today was good
Hey,
I’m a regular tumblr user and president of the Eco Club at Folsom Lake College. We wished to expand our promotion of healthy,environmentally-friendly living so I started a blog! We aren’t that great in numbers, but we love working with others and out community. Some of the things we do as a club is river/park cleanups and we try to get involved with anything else that we can. But our biggest project of all is to start a campus garden. If any of you live in the area, or simply wish to connect with us (support is always accepted) feel free to do so :)

Shoe Project
So I’m sure this will become the first of a couple of “learning opportunities” aka unsuccessful CAS activities, but this project was still a failure. After countless searches for french shoe pick up organizations and many e-mails sent to obscure people without reply, I gave up. My partner, David, was not much help at all. I gave him several tasks including designing a poster and finding a box that could be used to collect shoes and to brainstorm a potential drop off location…and none were completed. I apparently have some kind of knack for finding deadbeat partners, need to figure out some way to get that little sign`turned off over the top of my head. This experienced taught me how frustrating it is working with people (especially the people I kept e-mailing) who would not contact me back or anything. It made me so frustrated especially every Friday when I couldn’t give a very good review of what I’d accomplished. I’m actually kind of glad I managed to get rid of this projectSo I changed projects and that would be the eco advert commercials that I blogged about earlier.

Eco Club
We have decided to start making video’s to advertise ways to reduce our carbon footprint however I feel that slowly but surely everyone is getting fed up with doing Eco Club and most of our classes just dissolve into mindless talking about nothing of real consequence. I think the weather might have something to do with it to be honest. Everybody just likes the sun too much to actually work.
One thing we do really get right though is the recycling. Every week we recycle the paper bins which I feel is good on our part because its the one thing that is consistent.
Will try to figure out some way to get everyone more involved in the club and to remotivate myself!

Creativity and Service
Well well well, we are back at school and I am still tired. IB was only made for the strong and the mentally sane, I’m neither of those two but I am still dragging on.
This week in Eco Club we had to make posters for the eco bins that we are putting in each class room, I think that it is a good thing that we are trying to help the world but I mean lets be honest. These students dont respect the bins and sometimes I wonder why we are even bothering to put these bins up and even emptying them. Students don’t throw paper in these bins they throw trash in them, they also kick them around like the poor bin is a football, and I mean come on I know there is a lack of sport in this school and you feel as if you want to kick something but dont kick a bin. Go outside and kick a ball!
Anyways, I was instructed to still make posters for the eco bin so I kept going. I learned patience today. But its a limited patience, to be honest lets see how the week goes before I lose my mind.
