I just really like the idea of Castiel covering Dean’s body with protective sigils but along the way the words and symbols for “love” in quite a few languages, including some we don’t even know, slip in there. what Castiel was using to mark him was invisible, but sometimes Dean runs his fingers over his arms, wrist, stomach, ankles, inner thighs, ribcage, and feels a little jolt when he brushes over what he imagines would be a word with particularly strong intentions.

Kripke also said the quote about it’s all about connections and it might be your brother or it might be the guy next to you in a foxhole. He never believed it was JUST THE BOYS ONLY that mattered.
This. Honestly, I can’t get over this notion that the show can never and should never evolve… even Kripke realized that progression was necessary to keep audience interest, ffs.

for a little while there I thought maybe we wouldnt go around on the dick Dean and shaming Deans anger wheel again. There have been a ton of metas considering Deans pov. But theres also all the same old, why do people still not get this. :/
aside from the fact that i think a lot of people are largely missing the damn point to the conflict between them i am once again fascinated by the arguments people have been coming up with that completely side-step the issue. “he was brainwashed!” or “naomi was controlling him!” like yeh you’re right, little buddy! :D which is why dean mentions only what happens after cas breaks the control as what really grinds his gears. but it was a good shot.

in season 7 he just feels sorry for himself while leaving dean to clean up the mess he created, goes on about how he ruined everything because he was given that power and he also seems to believe god is always setting him up to fail
he goes to great lengths to avoid responsibility and that has always been true. i find it especially harmful in late season 6 because he uses it to get dean to show him the blind loyalty he feels entitled to. and that happens after it’s revealed that he’s been manipulating dean for an entire year??? sorry, that is not okay
in 8x07 he does take responsibility for his decision to stay behind and i’m glad it happened. however, it arrived too late and i’m a little grossed out by the fact that he’s praised for it when he deliberately made dean feel responsible for his season 6/7 actions before. it’s not as simple as ‘dean just wants to blame himself’ in this case. castiel encouraged that because he was desperate and tried to guilt trip dean into joining him. we can talk about his motivations all day but this is what happened. being on a ~mission to save the world doesn’t excuse it.

Tumblr is being a pain, so the short version of what I would've reblogged and added to your commentary about supportings -- totally agree. You already know that, but also I really don't like the idea that it's okay to remove/kill the others off because Sam and Dean and Castiel are the central focus anyway -- that's the same trap as it's okay because Sam and Dean are the central focus. You know I adore Cas, but it's not good for the show if he's the ONLY one who has a full arc & gets to matter.
Exactly. Why should Cas be the only exception to the just-the-brothers-rule? He’s added so much to the show, imagine what a couple of other characters with some decent development and plot of their own could do.

Im okay when D/C shippers do it but when people who dont ship it complain about how awful the fandom is (often using things that just dont pop up in D/C fandom all that frequently tbh) I get infuriated. cant help it.

same as bexy, but maybe not to the level of fury at this point. I feel like the obnoxious ones have spread their behavior to new fans and its getting worse. but! I recognize that theyre only a part of the whole so I dont like generalizations.

Big diff between discussion of a specific behavior, and gross generalizations & frequent bashing and claims shippers ruined show/fandom. Shippers of all pairings can be annoying, perspective is good, & some grab the bashing stick way too much.
As much as some Spuffy shippers creeped me out, and I think the writers of BtVS made some bad decisions to facilitate Spuffy, I never blamed the shippers for it. Ultimately, if you don’t like something that’s happening on a show, it’s the writer’s fault, not the fandom’s.

If 8x11 has some emotional continuity with 8x10 and Dean actually *talks* about Castiel I will be very happy. (and Cas wasn’t in 8.01 and was an important presence so maybe the Casless eps now will mention his situation and the boys’ concern for him)

one of the reasons why dean/cas is my otp is because dean never had to be the caretaker with cas but then season 7 happened and it peed all over that. so i would really, really hate to see that continued in any way.
