The first time I heard that track by Wale & Brother Ali on that 10 Deep x DJ Benzi “The New Deal Mixtape,” I knew a new era of hip-hop had hit the scene. The music between ‘08-‘10 was so fresh (in the sense of the word). Artists weren’t afraid to stick with the shit they were doing, which wasn’t “the norm.” Real shit, I miss that era.
