What's Up With "Dissatisfied" and "Unsatisfied"?

“There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.”

—Jane Austen

“A dog owns nothing, yet is seldom dissatisfied.”

—Irish Proverb

“Dear Lord, I will remain restless, tense, and dissatisfied until I can be totally at peace in your house. There is no certainty that my life will be any easier in the years ahead, or that my heart will be any calmer. But there is certainty that you are waiting for me and will welcome me home when I have persevered in my long journey to your house. ”

—Henri J.M. Nouwen

Why do we hunger for love that doesn’t even satisfy? God is pouring His love into us that will not only fill us up, but overflow!

“The more I see of the world, the more I am dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of either merit or sense.”

—Elizabeth Bennet. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

You say you want a revolution?

Well you know, we all wanna change the world. These words, personified through The Beatles, show the never-ending plea of humanity, for humanity. We all want something more out of life, but nobody has the balls to reach out and take what they want. Nobody takes the time or effort to change anything an we all just remain complacent yet utterly dissatisfied in a world where nothing is truly ours. Every aspect of life has been boiled down to a crude judgement of pluses and minuses rather than feelings, genuine human attachments and emotions, by a capitalistic dogma who’s only intention is to breed the most efficient and uniform society. Quite frankly, i’m sick of it.

“Are these things really better than the things I already have? Or am I just trained to be dissatisfied with what I have now?”
