Mulan Redesign - Before and After

look familiar?

Come on, Disney. Don’t destroy the integrity of one of your BEST female characters just because you want to include her in the princess line. She can still be included, but keep her the way she’s meant to be. Otherwise, you’re defeating the purpose of the damn movie in the first place. There is definitely progress is the newest redesign of Mulan, but you can do better than that.
Give young girls these days more than one type of female heroine/figure to look up to. Be a leader in the movement in showing that a girl can be a princess no matter how she dresses and acts, or whether or not she likes to dance or read or sing or fight or all of the above. It’s about what is inside, not about how much goddamn glitter you have on your dress or how long your hair is.
And after you fix Mulan, PLEASE WORK ON THE MESS THAT YOU MADE OF POCAHONTAS.
“MERIDA WAS THE ONLY PRINCESS WHO DID THINGS!!!”
“SHE’S THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS ROUGH-AND-TUMBLE AND AWESOME!!!”
“SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR MY DAUGHTER AND NOW SHE’S PRETTY SO SHE ISNT A ROLE MODEL ANYMORE!!!!”
i am so tired of this honestly
we have Mulan and Pocahontas over here who on the scale of activeness they did a lot in their movie okay one saved China the other united two groups who were literally about to kill each other. both of them got majorly overhauled and glitterfied too and i’m not seeing anyone forming petitions over that
Peggy Orenstein and every other ~concerned and outraged mother~ out there can eat my shorts
Do you know what I hate the most about Disney's redesigned Princesses?
These characters have lost any and all individuality.
They all have the same facial shapes, they all have the same petite body-types with nubile breasts (including Pocahontas, who was the bustiest Disney girl ever drawn!), Mulan, Pocahontas, Jasmine, and Tiana have been whitewashed, and all of their respective costumes have been completely redesigned. These amazing characters have been reduced to nothing more than pretty faces.
Dishonor on you, Disney.
