Hey musical fans: composers need some love too!
I don’t think that many people care enough about the composers to actually take the time to let them know you appreciate what they do. Not that there’s anything wrong with that in a way; most of the time you just see the guy’s back of the head and that’s it. How would you know what they look like?
Me and mind-evolution are absolutely in love with Berlin’s dirigent, Shay Cohen. The composers in Vienna were talented also, but I like how precise Shay is. He never seems to miss anything and the way he works with the actors is - at least that’s what it seems to me - effortless and warm.
That’s the reason why today we requested a second autograph; the first was asked a few months ago. (Oh the content smile on my face when he stated that he remembered seeing us here a few times. Yes, Shay, just a few times.) He wrote a nice little message for me in English and then mind-evolution happened to bring up Shay’s native language: guys, it’s Hebrew! We got so excited and didn’t even hide it, instead like little children we just begged him to sign mind-evolution’s book in Hebrew and I’m pretty sure Shay was glad to do so.
This means that I have to reread a few Hebrew phrases for tomorrow, since we have already thanked him and said goodbye in his native language and I’ve run out of everything uself (because asking for a toilet’s location could be a bit weird).
Ah, such a paradise for two language lovers!

Deutscher Dirigentenpreis 2013
Eun Sun Kim, Kristiina Poska (Kapellmeisterin Komische Oper Berlin) und Ivo Hentschel heißen die drei musikalischen Nachwuchstalente im Finale des Deutschen Dirigentenpreis 2013. Beim Wettbewerbskonzert am 26. April müssen Sie am Pult des renommierten Berliner Konzerthausorchesters ihre Fähigkeiten als Dirigenten unter Beweis stellen.

Der Deutsche Dirigentenpreis wird alle zwei Jahre verliehen. Die Bewertung übernimmt eine hochkarätig besetzte Jury, deren Vorsitz zum ersten Mal der Dirigent Prof. Dr. Peter Gülke innehat, ehemals Beiratsvorsitzender des Dirigentenforums. Das Preisgeld von insgesamt 35.000 Euro macht den Preis zu einer der höchstdotierten Würdigungen für Dirigenten in Europa. Für den ersten Platz, den Deutschen Dirigentenpreis, sind 15.000 Euro ausgelobt, die Zweit- und Drittplatzierten erhalten Förderpreise, die mit jeweils 10.000 Euro dotiert und der Leitung der Bad Homburger Schlosskonzerte für eine Saison verbunden sind.
