Designation

So I’ve changed positions so many times in my company, that nobody can be fucked to change my official designation every time. Right now as far as my contract is concerned I have the designation I started out with although my salary amount written down changed with each step, I made sure of that!

So now even when I print new business cards there is no designation on it. Nothing on my email signature. When people ask what I do, nobody can give a one line answer.

So I ask you “internet people / tumblr community / whatever”, come up with a good designation for me!

KurtVonnegut sends you a message. You reply and, address them directly, but you add a space.   Google’s crawlers think you’ve mentioned Kurt Vonnegut and begin covering your email discussion and gchats in adds for her new book, The One Inside You.  You are glad it is personalized so that your correspondent doesn’t laugh at your expense.  At least you hope.

To Machines the space is a character. It is a part of the name invisible to the human eye.  It can take up space at the beginning or end, and no one would ever know unless a cursor is moved into the void to see if it is there.  It is an identity that can only be know through place.

 You write Google a message informing them of your mistake. The response is terse and reminds you that you should be more careful in recommending products you want to know more about.  The intellectual property holder could potentially sue both of you for misrepresentation. You realize it’s not worth the effort.  End users/products all look the same to them anyway.
