I’m worried that kids trapped in poverty through no fault of their own will be denied the best route out and up – a better public education. These kids – our future – deserve these wins and it’s up to us to deliver them.”

“When Republicans stand strong on principles while Democrats obsess about political practicality, Democrats repeatedly concede too much and Republicans repeatedly win more than policy and politics would otherwise dictate. The immigration reform markup is only the latest example of this larger, depressing state of affairs. Maybe it’s time for the Democrats to remember their safe word. Might I suggest “ENOUGH!”?”

That’s what I say about Democrats all the time: they function as a product of pragmatism over principles.
That Moment When You Realize:
Democrats want a Democracy, a system wherein if there’s enough popular support, any and all rights can be removed or restricted because “The Majority Rules”.
and
Republicans want a Republic, a system wherein even if the Majority clamors for it, certain rights can never be violated because they are protected from the Majority by Law.
The sooner you learn this, the better off you are.
