From strangers to friends/It’s party time in Denver

wallythewebguy.com

hen I returned to Denver yesterday morning, and lo and behold,
it’s party time downtown. Party as in “Democratic Party”.

By now you’ve probably figured out that Denver is hosting the
Democratic National Convention this year, so there
are people everywhere – people in blue suits looking official,
people holding Hillary signs walking one way, people holding
McCain signs the other way, and of course a lot of Barack and
Roll Obama stuff.

I love a good buzz, and the people coming out everywhere to
share in a little old fashioned democracy definitely create a
buzz.

Sen. Jansen comments on State of the State address

Shariah Law dictates that every practicing Muslim give a percentage (generally 2.5% but changes depending on who you ask) of their untouched savings to charity.
This “Zakah” (“Alms”), the third pillar of Islam, is to be distributed by the Government or the closest thing to an Islamic Leadership. It promotes investment into economy stimulating ventured as well as reducing inflation and helping the lower class.

This system was so effective that it was during the reign of Umar II (717-720) that was the first time the government did not take Zakah because nobody in the nation was eligible to receive it. The entire population was able to give it. It was since then that the application of Zakah took on a more individual responsibility

So let’s see. Stimulate the economy? Reduce inflation? No more poverty?
Yeah Shariah is going to ruin America.

It’s the job of the Government to collect and distribute it?
Almost none of these countries that America says follows Shariah actually follow Shariah. Most of them don’t even claim to.
If Congress actually examined actual Shariah law they would find practical laws and regulations and obligations. They would find less government interference and milder punishments than seen today and non-Muslims also become exempt from most of the actual punishment and crimes which the US government does not have to enforce.

DuPree campaign needs cash

With primaries wrapped up after Tuesday’s runoffs, the gubernatorial race is in full swing, with Democratic Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree facing Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant on Nov. 8.

DuPree last week received pledges of support from the national Democratic Governors Association, and from his primary-runoff opponent, Bill Luckett. Democratic political observers are hoping this will bring an influx of cash to the DuPree campaign, which faces the well-funded Bryant campaign.

DuPree has spent less than $500,000 — half what Luckett spent — and had an anemic cash-on-hand balance of only $120,000 at last report. Bryant has spent more than $3.1 million, and had nearly $700,000 on hand at last report.
“The Democratic Governors Association congratulates Mayor DuPree on his historic victory tonight,” said Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, the group’s chair.”He has helped move Mississippi forward by becoming the first African-American to run for governor on a major party ticket. We look forward to working with his campaign and Mississippi Democrats in the coming months.”

Luckett’s endorsement statement for DuPree was:”I have come to know Mayor DuPree well. I regard him as a friend and someone who loves this great state as I do.”
