Right, you won’t do those because no one paid you to because no one is trying to hide those.
Daily Dot: The Pros and Cons of Fandom on Tumblr
dailydot.com“For months, arguments about Tumblr have been circulating fandom like a looping GIF. Fandom is using Tumblr more than ever, but many fans hate what Tumblr is doing to fandom.
The argument boils down to two issues: communication and kinds of fanworks. Tumblr is an image-friendly site whose design doesn’t lend itself to text-based blogging and interaction. The emergence of a fan culture that accordingly pays less attention to textual engagement and one-on-one communication has many fans worried.
To help make sense of the debate, here’s a handy pros and cons list the Daily Dot compiled from fans and Tumblr users.”

^ Legit. Although I’m sure my Livejournal nostalgia is based on the fact that my own fandom participation has always been entirely text-based (i.e., I write, I discuss, I comment), and a platform like Tumblr lowers my own (sub)cultural capital relative to those who are visually-focused (i.e. the editors, the gifset-makers, the photoshoppers).
So, y’know. Fandom’s Move to Tumblr: Like The French Revolution, In A Way?
I will also take this opportunity to tell you all how much I hate the Tumblr fanmail/ask system. IT IS SO KLUNKY AND UNSEARCHABLE AND THE MESSAGES DISAPPEAR WHEN YOU REPLY. NOT CONDUSIVE TO ACTUAL CONVERSATION AT. ALL.
Remember that lovely article (not from the daily dot but still) that compared Larry shippers to racists who believe that Obama wasn’t born in the United States? That was lovely wasn’t it.
It’s funny because the moon landing conspiracy and the 9/11 truther conspiracy theory can be shown to be unsupported if you know a bit about science and engineering… oh yeah, and there plenty of websites and articles explaining in researched detail why these theories don’t make sense.
But god forbid a group of predominantly teenage girls come up with the ~completely irrational~ conspiracy theory that two famous boys in the entertainment industry are gay and closeted. Because no one in the entertainment industry is ever gay and closeted! What a crazy idea!
If a bunch of adult men come up with a conspiracy theory, people write a bunch of articles dispassionately disproving it, and call in scientists and engineers or whatever to support their point, and it’s used as an opportunity to educate the public.
But if teenage girls come up with one then all they get is mockery and derision, because obviously teenage girls are stupid, and obviously they must be wrong, no actually research or consideration of the points they make needed! If teenage girls think something is true, let’s take the worst and stupidest of their points and over-publicize them, and completely ignore all the smart things they have to say!
Never underestimate the power of the media and society to make out teenage girls to be the stupidest people on earth.
So my interview with the DailyDot about the Sterek Campaign was published today.

… I have no idea how this happened but wow, I’m so grateful for all the positive reaction we’ve been getting so far. This fandom is seriously amazing!!
