I was way pumped when The Paperhead came through town on tour a few weeks ago, but I ended up getting my mind blown by openers D. Watusi, another in the long line of killer bands coming out of Nashville. They play straight-up, no bullshit trashy garage rock with some seriously accomplished bluesy guitar riffs, the kind of music that reaffirms your faith in a pretty crowded genre. D. Watusi have a new LP coming out in August via Nashville’s Dead called Dark Party and this is the first single. Stream it below and pick up the limited 7” with a sweet Joy Division cover on the flip direct from Nashville’s Dead.

2011 Kinks Tribute Band Release Wrap-Up
Yeah, that’s quite a title, but as promised I have put a list together of some of the awesome releases put out in 2011 by the bands and musicians on the upcoming Kinks tribute because I wanted to remain unbiased on the site’s Favorites of 2011 Lists. Below each release is also a link directing you to get each record or tape, but I highly recommend getting it straight from the band if they happen to be playing in a town near you.
