Here’s one for the old timers. For the janitor cleaning up a school late at night to put food on the table for his family. For the painter outside bumpin’ classic rock all day long as he makes a living. There’s a reason CCR and the whole of genre of classic rock has been so synonymous with blue-collar workers of our day. Yeah smartass I realize some of them actually grew up when that music was popular, that’s not the point. The music was and still is about doing something for yourself, for your life, and for your future. So, compliments of my suitemate’s alarm, I was reminded of a song that embodies that exact ideology, CCR’s “Fortunate Son”
No one can really explain why people love this song so damn much. There’s just something about that bayou-twang that Fogerty and Co. coax out of their guitars and the throaty croon that spills from the man’s mouth. Whatever it is, I really can’t say, but everyone who enjoys the song just appreciates its existence.
Maybe not Fogerty, but we’re quite the Fotunate Son(s).
