Creative team members have been announced Once, a new stage musical adaptation of the 2007 film of the same name. After a pre-Broadway workshop presentation , scheduled to take place in late April and early May at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA, Once hopes to arrive on Broadway in the fall of 2011, directed by John Tiffany (Black Watch). No theater or casting has been announced.

Once will feature a score by Glen Hansard (frontman of Irish band The Frames) and singer/songwriter Markéta Irglová, who starred in the film and won the Best Original Song Academy Award for “Falling Slowly.” The musical will feature a book by Irish playwright and screenwriter, Enda Walsh (Penelope, Hunger, The New Electric Ballroom). The creative team will include design by Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Mary Poppins) musical staging by Steven Hoggett (American Idiot, Black Watch) and music direction by Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!).
