Fact that may ruin your childhood:

The Pokemon Paras and Parasect are based on the Cordyceps fungus. You remember how Parasect had no pupils? Yeah, Parasect was when the fungus had reached “mind control” stage, so it is basically a zombie bug-pokemon being controlled by that huge freaking mushroom.

To this day, I consider Parasect to be the freakiest Pokemon ever created.
