Going out to eat? YES!
Over back home in Massachusetts over Christmas break, one of my absolute best friend ever (the girl giving the thumbs-up in the image above) took me to this Japanese restaurant named Wasabi. I’ve you never been to Wasabi before, then you’re seriously missing out. It is a chain restaurant, so they do have numerous locations to enjoy it from. The one I went to was in the South Shore Plaza mall (MA), but I also know of one back in Virginia inside of the Tyson’s Corner mall.
The coolest thing about this restaurant - aside from the fact that it sits smack-dab in the center of mall hallways - is that the food revolves around the seating area, by way of a conveyer belt. There are a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, and desserts that sit of different colored plates - the color representing the price of that particular plate. Most of the plates cost between $2-$5 each, so you can try a whole lot of different things without worrying too much about crippling your bank account.
Aside from the food you see circling around, there are even more food dishes on the menu that you can order any time you like. I decided to go with this meal-deal that allowed you to get an appetizer, entree, and dessert for just $12. I got miso soup for my appetizer (which is something you have to order from the menu). For my entree I went with an amazing plate of asian salad, white rice, and marinated chicken (as seen above, and also exclusive to the menu).
For my dessert, I decided upon some green tea mousse with strawberry sauce, mango sauce, and a half of a strawberry on top. I’ve had my share of green tea ice cream, so I expected the mousse to be sweet. Unfortunately, it was kind of bitter instead. Next time I’ll definitely be getting the chocolate mousse instead.
Even though I ordered the meal deal, I stilled had the chance to sample other things off of the conveyer belt. Some examples of this were cucumber sushi, a sort of omelet wrapped up on top of white rice, and red bean mochi with sesame seeds on top. There are simply so many things to try that one visit to Wasabi could never be enough. I do hope that, if you like Japanese food or have never tried it, that you will give Wasabi a chance. It is truly a memorable place to eat.
