These "competition for the most beautiful teenager" things on Facebook are getting so annoying.

All I’m seeing are pictures of girls with their tits hanging out, duck faces & orange tans.

HOW BEAUTIFUL RIGHT?

COMPETITION FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TEENAGER

This is sad. I mean… everyones beautiful. Just because these girls are half naked does not make them beautiful.

*You may have the prettiest face, but if you have an ugly core, it doesn’t mean a thing.

'competition for the most beautiful teenager' makes me want to shoot myself

it’s so narcissistic and immature

I hate facebook for having a “Competition for the most beautiful teenager” page, and I hate even more that people take it seriously.

The Competition for the most beautiful teenager...smh

So ‘the competition for the most beautiful teenager’ is pretty much just someone or some people creating a facebook page for everyone to see, posting pictures of other people asking them to judge whether those people are beautiful or not. That’s just sick. Asking random people to determine if you’re attractive? Everyone is beautiful, who are we people to judge others appearances? Also, I don’t see how posting a half naked picture of a minor on a public page is ‘coo’l. This is really how screwed society is.

Honestly this is just sad. http://www.facebook.com/MostBeautifulTeenager

Competition for the most beautiful teenager?

There are plenty of ridiculous groups on facebook, but this page, which displays pictures of half naked teens (of both genders, so at least the admins aren’t discriminating!) and deems one “the most attractive”, really takes the cake. Occasionally, there’s a picture with an inspirational caption like “say no to racism!!!”, but no amount of feel-good mantras can detract from the shallowness that is this page.  In the interest of time, I’ll condense what would otherwise be a steamy, ten paragraph long rant into a list of my issues with this competition.

1. It reinforces the idea that being beautiful is worthy of high praise. It certainly is worth noting, but it’s not like being pretty is as useful as being good at math or being able to write well.

2. It promotes a narrow conception of what beauty is. I swear, all the female winners look exactly the same. All the male winners look exactly the same.

3. It sexualizes teenagers, which is kind of disgusting. I’m not saying that teenagers can’t be sexy, but should there really be an album of half naked minors available on facebook for perverts to peruse?

4. It encourages girls to get slutty. Technically, the competition is for the most “beautiful” teenager, but there was clearly a miscommunication; most of the pictures are of girls in tight dresses or low cut tops and booty shorts… trust me, the beauty of each girl’s face is not the focus.

I’d rather make sweeping statements than lash out at the individual pictures… so I’m done. I encourage you all to check out the page (search “Competition for the most beautiful teenager” on facebook) and see what you think!

Just found a Facebook page called "Competition For The Most Beautiful Teenager"

..the fuck?

For those of you who don’t know, or are too lazy to click the link, to my understanding this page is basically where self centered teenagers can submit pictures of themselves to be put on the page’s main wall.

This page doesn’t make me feel bad about my appearance. It doesn’t make me jealous, or angry, or upset. It confuses me. Who looks at themselves in the mirror and thinks, I’m the most beautiful teenager?

Why do these lucky bastards, who can wake up in the morning and be completely satisfied with their appearance, feel the need to submit it to this page? Is it so they can prove to themselves that they’re worthy of being called beautiful? Or are they just so goddamn cocky that they need to share it with the world?

I don’t understand why people start things like this. This is my message to anyone considering submitting their picture, or looking at this page and feeling shitty about themselves.

Anyone can be beautiful. But finding a genuinely good person is much harder to come by. Don’t get too hung up on appearances. Focus on loving the people around you and caring for others, I guarantee it will help you in the long run.
