Reading 50: Book 1/50 - Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Started: January 10, 2012
Finished: January 11, 2012
In my attempt to read 50 books in 2012, I started with Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
Picking up the book in the store I immediate liked the basic summary, decided to give it a shot. It’s the first book in The Lunar Chronicles and I’m happy to say I’ll definitely be keeping up with this series.
It was obviously a love story but the way that it was presented was not a stereotypical, linear love story and kept me guessing right until the cliffhanger at the end. I was very impressed with the twists and turns that, while being able to make an educated guess at some things, kept just enough information to have me question whether I was right or not.
I did read the book in two days but honestly, not because it was a ‘simple read’. It was just so engaging that I couldn’t put it down at all. I started reading at 1:30pm on Jan 10, took about 3 and a half hours worth of a break, maybe four, to cut out some fabric and go see TinTin in theatres (fantastic movie btw), and then came home and returned to reading. I finished it at 4:30am on Jan 11.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes love stories with familiar yet completely unpredictable outcomes, as well as post-apocalyptic setting with traditional mixed with modern and also futuristic elements. The love story is minor at first so it doesn’t strangle the story out right away. I was able to identify with the protagonist, despite the fact that normally I’m normally not drawn in by stories with female protagonists (most of the time)
If I were rating this book out of five I’d give it a 4 or 4.5
(So tired, so worth it)
(OOC: Because of the lack of much to do today (had to wait for my fabric to wash and dry and then got distracted after cutting it out), I started reading this book I recently bought. It’s called Cinder and it’s by Marissa Meyer. FANTASTIC BOOK. The amount I want to watch this as a movie adapatation is unbelievable. I’m almost hoping another book comes out as part of a series because the ending was left open for one. (drives me nuts but the end was excellent) I have so many emotions over this book. SO MANY FEELINGS. Took a break to see Tintin around 10pm-midnight. Awesome movie. Came back, curled up, and read until the end of the book. It was engrossing. I loved it. Now I’m going to bed before I die of tired. G’night!)
