Weekend Recap: Food
A rainy weekend was just what I needed, a lot of napping, cooking and family time! Yesterday we went to Chopping Block & stumbled upon their First Annual Food Show. We missed Chef Kim of Urban Belly etc, but sampled his 3 sauces (yum!), along with other gourmet goodies. The Mister & C were very impressed with the truffle salted popcorn, so that’s what we took home! It was fun to pop our own popcorn, C was blown away when it started popping.
Tip: We were told to use a heavy pot ie: Le Creuset & warm 2 tbsp of grapeseed oil (higher smoke point). Once it gets hot (as hot as you can get it), add the kernels, cover the lid and shake. Once popped, add a tbsp of olive oil then sprinkle truffle salt and mix.

This morning we tried our hand at banana chocolate chip bread. We omitted the coconut since we didn’t have any on hand, but it still turned out delish.
Dinner tonight is this Escarole and Orzo Soup with Turkey Meatballs “Italian Wedding Soup”.
