A Swedish Child 44
Two casting tidbits:
- Child 44 is turning into a Swede-fest: Firstly, the director, Daniel Espinosa is Swedish. Then there’s Noomi Rapace, of course. And now, Joel Kinnaman - who is also Swedish. Tom will be surrounded by Swedes! After all this Swedish exposure, he should be learning the language. And his next film should be filmed here in Stockholm. Preferably somewhere near where I live. I’ll do my duty and provide the cast with coffee and snacks. *g*
- Andrew Scott is in Locke with Tom! The film has already finished filming - it’s supposed to be shot in real-time, after all. Whatever that means… But yay! I love Andrew. And interestingly, he just played against Charlotte Riley in the tv series The Town. In Locke, Olivia Colman from Tyrannosaur also plays a part. She’s brilliant. I’m stoked.
Gary Oldman in Child 44 - as reported!
It’s been officially confirmed that Gary Oldman will be in Child 44 with Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace & Joel Kinnaman. Filming this summer. Yay!

Gary Oldman Joining Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace in 'Child 44'

In what should prove to be a meaty role, Oldman will play the head of police who is acting on those suspicions.

Rob is rumored to be attached to this film, Child 44.
Here is the synopsis:
Rob would play Leo, a strong-willed former member of the Soviet state police who investigates a series of child killings that are being covered up by the very group he used to lead.
Ridley Scott is rumored to be directing and there have been a couple of people on Twitter who are talking about auditioning for the film lately: @maximbaldry, @Luke_T_Taylor

Gary Oldman Reteams With Tom Hardy For 'Child 44'
Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman are beginning to be old pals. The actors have teamed together on a string of strong films, with “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Lawless” under their under their belts, and it’s probably safe to say they’re getting along quite well. Because they’re going to be paired up again in a film with a cast that just keeps getting strong and stronger.

Summit is out to directors for an adaptation of Tom Rob Smith’s crime drama CHILD 44. The project was originally set up at Fox 2000, with Ridley Scott directing. But while they may not have a director yet, they do have a star, according to what we’re hearing. And that star is none other than Robert Pattinson, the beloved Edward in Summit’s TWILIGHT franchise. RPat would play Leo, a strong-willed former member of the Soviet state police who investigates a series of child killins that are being covered up by the very group he used to lead. It’s pretty different fare for the teen heartthrob, but it’ll give him a good excuse to stretch his acting chops.

In the previous chatter FOX was listed as the studio. Now, as you can see in the above image, Summit Entertainment is behind the film (as originally rumored/thought). This listing above was updated 1/12/12 and is NOT available to the public for viewing. You have to be a Member of On the Grid.
We checked again and there is no IMDB page slated with this film.
So, now, the million dollar question…. is THIS the reason Rob is sporting a buzz cut? Did he do it for himself? Either way, we still want to know…. is this Rob’s rumored project that was expected to start this month?
We also got clarification/thoughts from @larry411, he said,
Michael Costigan, listed as producer, is the President of Scott Free. So Ridley Scott is still backing but not directing.
Scott Free Productions, which is Ridley & his bro Tony Scott’s company along with Michael Costigan, is still behind the film as producers.
@jacndaniel Ridley is Jake’s father, Tony is his uncle. Ridley & Tony were EPs and Costigan was a prod on Rileys.
@Laty543 His company is still producing it. He is not directing it. They are looking for a director.
