Mala - Noche Sueños ft. Danay Suarez
How have I not posted a tune from Mala in Cuba?! Here’s what is possibly my favourite. You definitely need to get to know. Then again, I have few followers on this blog, and I’m going by the assumption that if you’ve found me you know about this album. Best thing to come out of 2012 so far in EDM.

Kutmah presents Worldwide Family Vol.2
Kutmah Presents Worldwide Family 2 Preview
The second volume of Brownswood Recordings ‘Worldwide Family’ series comes courtesy of LA native Kutmah, London’s newly transplanted DJ, NTS show host, producer, visual artist and eternal beat-seeker. Kutmah is a king amongst cratediggers; a true musical iconoclast.
With ‘Worldwide Family Vol. 2’, Kutmah brings back the art of being a selector in every sense. So much so, he decided to create a compilation with his fellow DJ in mind. A wonderfully deep collection of tracks that each merit your undivided attention and appreciation… featuring unreleased heat from Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus, Samiyam, The Darkhorseman (Dibia$e & Jonwayne), Mono/Poly and plenty of new heat from up and comers Lapti, Seven Davis Jr., Groundislava, ESMK and Tehbis.

Gang Colours - The Keychain Collection

To experience Gang Colours’ The Keychain Collection is to consume oneself with an eclectic palette of musical influences. Listening to the album is a bit like walking through your favorite museum, as the LP plays host to a satisfying collection of digital and analog noises derived from a variety of genres, mediums, and eras— all of which comprise of the melting pot that is Gang Colours’ artistic vision of emotive electronica. With its experimental quality and deep aesthetics, The Keychain Collection fits right in line with Gilles Peterson’s esteemed Brownswood Recordings, which released the record last week.
Gang Colours is the moniker of Will Ozanne, the ceaselessly talented producer from Southampton, England. Much like James Blake, Ozanne’s selling point is his ethereal blend of compelling electronic riffs, field noise, and his own vocal recordings. His skills on the piano keys are crucial as well, contributing to his productions an additional organic edge. I highly advise you listen to The Keychain Collection below. You can purchase it right here if you feel so inclined. Highlights include “Forgive Me”, “Pebble Dash”, and “Fancy Restaurant”. Enjoy the music, and don’t forget to keep up with Gang Colours on Facebook.

Fancy Restaurant 12
Gang ColoursGang Colours Machinedrum/Ifan Dafydd/Deft Remix Sampler
Been meaning to post about Gang Colours for quite a while, but life got in the way, and well here I am now. Regardless, more people need to know about this Southampton up-and-comer on the scene.
Gang Colours will be releasing his Fancy Restaurant 12” on February 20th, feat. three remixes by three players in the game, that need no introduction. Brownswood sums up the reworks best by saying, “Machinedrum busts out clattering junglist breakbeats and rainbow synths; the hotly tipped Ifan Dafydd musters a richly textured skittering dub; and Deft slowly builds a hypnotic groove, rising to a glorious crescendo of billowing synths.
Remixes can be a fantastic and fun exploration of sound and a sort of collaboration once removed, of course all of this depends on how well it’s done, but doesn’t everything? The Fancy Restaurant original and remix offering by Gang Colours is a perfect example of how the marriage and rearrangement of ideas can prove to be really something wonderful.
Listen to a sampling of the remixes above, and watch Gang Colours The Couch Session of the original track below:
